Hyundai is all set to launch its all-new subcompact SUV, the Exter, in the Indian market. We have been seeing various images of the front and rear of the upcoming SUV. Hyundai will be launching the SUV on July 10th. Hyundai has now released a brand new TV commercial (TVC) for the upcoming Exter and, along with the video, the brand has also announced that they have started accepting bookings for the all-new Exter. A TVC featuring Hardik Pandya has also been released online. It looks like Hardik Pandya is the ambassador for Hyundai’s new product. Hyundai will be positioning the Exter below the Venue, and it will compete with the likes of the Tata Punch in the segment.

The video has been shared by Hyundai India on their official YouTube channel. The video shows the front end of the upcoming Exter. The subcompact SUV comes with H-shaped daytime running LEDs, rectangular housings for the LED projectors, a wide grille, and a faux silver skid plate at the front. Its side profile displays an upright and tall stance with squared wheel arches, body cladding, and so on. We can also see the Exter badge just above the front grille.

This is probably the first time we are seeing the model badge at the front. The car gets a boxy design to make it look like an SUV. At the rear, the Exter gets similar H-shaped LED inserts in the tail lamp. There is a black band running across the tailgate, connecting the lamps. The Hyundai logo is placed on this black textured band. The muscular appeal of the Hyundai Exter’s rear view is further enhanced by a bulky-looking faux silver skid plate situated within the black body cladding on the lower half of the rear bumper. Reflectors are placed on the upper corners of the faux silver skid plate. Additionally, the image of the rear profile reveals an LED brake light positioned between the roof spoiler, textured finish on the C-pillar, shark fin antenna, and roof rails.

Hyundai Exter features

The video does not show the interior of the Hyundai Exter, but we have an idea of what features will be offered. Just like any Hyundai product, the upcoming Exter will also be offered with a variety of features. It will have a sunroof, wireless charger, automatic climate control, and a modern touchscreen infotainment system. The Hyundai Exter is the first car in its segment to come with a dashcam with dual cameras and a 2.31-inch screen from the factory. Safety features like six airbags, ESC, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors and camera, and hill start assist are standard across all variants.

The Hyundai Exter will be equipped with a 1.2-liter four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine as the sole powertrain option. This engine will be available with 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox options, delivering 83 bhp of power and 114 Nm of maximum torque. This is the same engine that Hyundai offers with other models like the Grand i10 Nios, Aura, and naturally aspirated variants of the Venue.

As mentioned above, the Hyundai Exter will compete with cars like the Tata Punch and Citroen C3. The Punch is available with petrol, and the manufacturer is planning to launch a CNG-fitted version in the market too.
