Call of Duty’s anti-cheat system gets a new feature

Microsoft-owned Activision is set to launch a new feature to counter cheaters in Call of Duty: Warzone. To add this feature to the first-person shooter title’s anti-cheat system, Ricochet, the popular gaming studio is set to roll out an update. This new feature is called Splat. As the name suggests, once deployed at the start of the match, this feature will be able to randomly detect cheaters and plummet them straight to the ground without giving a warning.

How will it work
With Splat enabled, Activision will take away parachutes of detected cheaters at the beginning of the game. If the new system detects a cheater while the game is on, it will instantly take them out by turning “a bunny hop into a 10,000-foot drop.”

Activision’s ops against Call of Duty cheaters
Activision has tried different methods to detect and remove cheaters from Call of Duty matches over the past few months. Earlier, the game’s publisher gifted an automatic god mode and invisibility for normal players to save them from getting shot by detected cheaters. Later on, Activision started shaming cheaters by announcing that they’d been booted in the kill feed.

The game maker is also working on improved server and client-side anti-cheat systems which are expected to launch soon. The studio recently launched the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III title for PS5. Activision has also made upgrades using machine learning to detect cheaters more quickly and accurately.
