Forbidden Planet To Open New Store In Brighton, With A Sea View

0 42

Forbidden Planet International, is to open a new store in Brighton, further south than any Forbidden Planet store has ever been before.

Forbidden Planet International, traditionally the one of the two Forbidden Plant chains that is more northern, is to open a new store further south than it has ever been before, the south coast, and Brighton. It’s even further south than the Forbidden Planet from the other half of the split franchise that used to be in Brighton, as the new store will be at the bottom of the Lanes and rather close to Brighton Pier. It looks like it will be much more of a general tourist destination than the previous store, which stood close to where Dave’s Comics is currently now, on Sydney Street, ayt the top of the Lanes.

Forbidden Planet Brighton will be at 35-36 West Street, and will have a sea view if you walk out of the front door and look right. The property has been empty since 2020, when it used to be Terra Plana, and before that, Raft Furniture. Next to Noodle Soup, it is also a few doors down from the current Waterstones bookstore of Brighton, which should make for some fun local competition, as well as with Dave’s Comics.

The grand opening for Forbidden Planet Brighton will be on the 31st of March, and they will have goodie bags to give away to the first 300 customers through their doors, as well as cosplayer events, prize draws and opening special offers.

Forbidden Planet is the trading name of two separate UK-based comic book, manga, science fiction, fantasy and horror bookshop and merchandise chains across the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the United States, and is named after the 1956 feature film of the same name. Founded by Nick Landau, Mike Lake and the late Mike Luckman in 1978 and it has grown considerably in the interim, as one of the largest comic book chains in the world. Tofay, the main shareholders in FP International are James Hamilton, Kenny Penman, Andrew Oddie, Richard Boxall and Colin Campbell.
