Full trailer for Amy Winehouse biopic Back to Black released | Film
The full trailer for the much-hyped Amy Winehouse biopic Back to Black has been released, after a short teaser trailer was made available in January.
Starring Marisa Abela as Winehouse, Back to Black is directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and written by Matt Greenhalgh; also appearing are Jack O’Connell as Winehouse’s boyfriend Blake Fielder-Civil and Eddie Marsan as her father Mitch.
Winehouse died at her home in Camden, London, in 2011, and Asif Kapadia directed a 2015 documentary about her career. The Winehouse family signed a deal with producers Monumental to make a film in 2018, and shooting was completed in 2023.
Performance coach Anne-Marie Speed recently spoke about the demand on Abela in her portrayal of Winehouse, saying: “It’s full-time preparation, it’s like an athlete and people really underestimate how physical voice production can be.”
