Google may soon launch a keyboard, stylus for Pixel Tablet

Google launched its first-ever tablet, the Pixel Tablet during its annual developer conference, I/O 2023 which was held last month. The tablet is now available for users in markets like the US. The tech giant is offering the $129 Charging Speaker Dock bundled with the tablet. Combined with the dock, the latest Android tablet is expected to replicate a Nest Hub. Users can also detach the Tensor G2-powered tablet from the dock and use it as a regular tablet.
However, the Pixel Tablet is falling behind its competition in areas like productivity as the company doesn’t offer accessories (like a keyboard or a stylus) like the recently released OnePlus Pad or the Xiaomi Pad 6. According to a report by Android Authority, Google is now preparing to release an official keyboard and stylus for the Pixel Tablet.
Google app codes reveal Pixel Tablet stylus, keyboard existence
Last month, tipster Kamila Wojciechowska took to Twitter to hint at the potential accessories for the newly released tablet. Now, a developer has found evidence of the same in a Google app.
While examining the Pixel factory images, a developer discovered a URL that leads to the latest version of Pixel’s Retail Demo app. This app is used to lock down display devices in retail stores and showcase various features of the device it’s running on. Within the latest version of the Retail Demo app, strings of file names with “Keyboard for Pixel Tablet” and a “Pen for Pixel Tablet” have been discovered.
However, the app doesn’t include any images of either accessory. The app also doesn’t mention any other details like pricing. But, the existence of these strings found within an official Google app suggests that the company is already developing the accessories and may soon showcase them in retail stores.

Apart from this, Google has shared other hints to confirm the existence of official Pixel Tablet accessories. The device’s official product page notes that the Pixel Tablet will “support USI 2.0 stylus pens”. Google has also improved stylus support in Android 14.
Moreover, the company has also made multiple improvements aimed at physical keyboards in Android 14. This includes expanding the number of keyboard shortcuts, introducing new touchpad gestures, modifier key remapping, backlight support and more.
However, Google didn’t officially confirm if these improvements are intended to support the “Keyboard for Pixel Tablet”. Also, the company has made improvements to Android’s upcoming desktop mode revamp. In this case, having a physical keyboard will make multitasking a lot easier.
