Google Pixel 6 to reportedly miss this ‘important’ Pixel 7 feature

0 54

Google has announced a new feature drop for the Pixel 6 series that brings a slew of recently launched Pixel 7 series features to the older device. This includes Clear Calling, Guided Frame, and the quick phrase for silence call options. Apart from that, Google Pixel 7 series finally brings a face unlock feature which is missing in Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.

The face unlock feature was also expected to arrive for Pixel 6 series phones and it also made the cut on Android 13 beta software for last year’s Pixel devices. However, the feature hasn’t been rolled out yet and it is likely that may never happen.

Caschys Blog has reported that Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro may never get face unlock capabilities as Google Germany has confirmed that the face unlock feature is not coming to older devices.

Google’s official post does not specify whether the decision not to roll out the face unlock for older Pixel smartphones is permanent or it is just a temporary thing or the feature is delayed and may roll out in future.

Meanwhile, Phonearena has reported that the next Google feature drop which is scheduled to come in December this year will reportedly bring some Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro to the Pixel 6 lineup of smartphones. So, this means that Pixel 6a, Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will get some of these features that the Pixel 7 offers.

In addition to this, Google is also expected to bring Spatial Audio support for Pixel Buds Pro to Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 smartphones with future Feature drop updates.
