How to block calls from unidentified numbers on Android phones

0 32

We all get multiple phone calls every day and there may be times when a majority of calls that we receive are either spam or from unidentified numbers. These calls may be from telemarketers, spammers, or scammers who use automated systems to make unsolicited calls to a large number of phone numbers. While we have apps, such as Truecaller, that can identify numbers for us, it would be better if we can block such calls.

In some cases, we also get calls from individuals or businesses that have blocked their phone numbers for privacy reasons or to prevent their number from being identified.

It’s important to exercise caution when receiving calls from unidentified numbers on your Android device, as some of them may be fraudulent or harmful in nature. To avoid unwanted calls, you can enable features like call blocking suspicious calls.

To block calls from unidentified numbers on your Android phone, you can follow these steps.

  1. Open the Phone by Google app on your Android phone or tablet.
  2. Tap on the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner of the screen.
  3. Tap “Settings” from the menu and tap “Blocked numbers.”
  4. Toggle on the “unknown” option and this will block calls from unidentified numbers.

However, if you want to add any additional phone numbers or contacts to the block list, you can do so by tapping “Add a number” or “Add contact” and entering the phone number or contact name.

Do note that the exact steps may vary depending on your device model and Android version. Additionally, you should also be mindful of sharing your phone number online or with people you do not know to reduce the chances of receiving unsolicited calls.
