How to change the address on your vehicle’s RC online

In case you moved to a new permanent address, you also have to update the address on most of your official documents, including the registration certificate for your car. The Motor Vehicle Act of 1988 enables you to apply for the recording of a change in the registered owner’s residential address on the motor vehicle registration certificate. You can easily do this by requesting the recording of the change in residence within 14 days of the address change via an online application. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you change your address on your vehicle’s RC online:

Documents required as per the official website of Parivahan Sewa:

  • Application on Form 33
  • Certificate of registration
  • Proof of new address
  • Valid insurance certificate
  • Pollution Under Control certificate
  • No Objection Certificate from financier (in case of hypothecation)*
  • Smart card fee*
  • Attested copy of PAN card or Form 60 and Form 61(as applicable)*
  • Chassis & Engine Pencil Print*
  • Signature Identification of owner*

Some states may require the documentation indicated by the asterisk (*).

Click on the Login button.

3.

Enter your user ID, password, security code shown on the screen and hit the Submit button.

Click on the Online Services.

5.

Select vehicle related services.

6.

Enter your Vehicle Registration number and the last 5 digits of the chassis number.

7.

Click on the Generate OTP button.

8.

Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.

Select the Change of Address in RC option and then click on the submit button.

Click on the Change address in RC option, available at the left menu.

12.

Fill in all the details and click on the Submit button.

13.

Fill in the insurance details option available under the service details tab. And then, click on the Submit button.

Click on the DMS (Upload documents) option.

15.

Click on the Appointment option available under the Service Details tab.

16.

Select the date for which a slot is available. Hit the Book Now button.

17.

Click on the fee details option and make payment with the required fee.

18.

Select the payment gateway and press the Continue button.

After making a payment, a receipt will be produced. Take out the printout of the receipt. You will be asked to visit the RTO with your receipt and other original documents. Your address will be changed on the Vehicle Registration Certificate following submission and document verification.
