How to find and survive Fire Tornadoes in Helldivers 2 – Destructoid

0 17

The Helldivers 2 balance patch did more than annoy some ride-or-die Railgun fans. It also introduced new environmental hazards. Suddenly, divers weren’t just dodging chargers but were also dancing around falling meteors. Fire tornadoes also arrived in to give us all another nightmare to deal with, and here’s where you can find them.

Appropriately, the best place to find fire tornadoes in Helldivers 2 is on the planet Hellmire. Located in the Terminid-controlled sector of Mirin, Hellmire lives up to its name. The planet is blanketed by a crimson fog, with red clouds overhead that look to be on fire. Not only is it hot, but soon after touching down on the damned planet, you’re faced with hellish twisters. This is not a friendly place.

Thankfully for Helldivers 2 players, you won’t have to dance with fire tornadoes the moment you find your feet on Hellmire. You can take your time dealing with objectives while greeting the local wildlife.

After some time, though, the game lets you know that something bad is on its way: “Fire Tornado Warning” appears at the top of your screen, just below the compass. In the background, orange streams begin to stretch from the ground to the sky. And soon enough, a fire tornado touches down.

Fire tornadoes are a tough hazard to deal with, but they’re easier than getting crushed into a paste by a random meteor. They sweep lazily across the area, lighting the ground and any living being on fire.

You can dodge them by watching their movement. If you’re being chased by enemies, you can use a tornado’s movement to your advantage. Kite the bugs into the path of a fire tornado to get some easy kills. Like a flamethrower, the tornado leaves the ground burning for a short time.

So far, fire tornadoes only seem to appear on the planet of Hellmire. As the galactic front expands, we’ll likely see more planets with the weather feature. For that time, be sure to look for the symbol when highlighting the planet:

Wear some sunscreen, and avoid weapons with heat buildup.
