Finding poorly designed speed breakers on Indian roads is not a difficult task. In most of our cities, there is at least one stretch where there are badly designed speed breakers that can scrape the underbody of your car. This issue is more relatable for people who drive small hatchbacks and sedans. This is one of the reasons why many people are now preferring cars and SUVs with higher ground clearance. In some cases, even the higher ground clearance of an SUV won’t save you. Here we have an example where a Kia Seltos got stuck on a mindlessly created speed breaker. The design was so bad that the SUV got beached on the speed breaker.

Kia Seltos stuck on a speed breaker

The owner, Abhishek Sharma, explained the complete incident in a social media post. It happened in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal, where the owner shared images of the SUV stuck on the speed breaker online. Soon after posting the images, they went viral on the internet. The owner mentioned that the Kia Seltos got stuck on a huge speed breaker that was created by the authorities near Parking no. 10. The owner said that after realising that the SUV got stuck, they tried to get the vehicle free from the breaker for several hours. Once they found that they could not do it themselves, they called for help and spent money to get the vehicle out of the breaker.

The social media post read, “A big salute to the excellent engineer who made this speed breaker. Cars often get stuck on this, but the administration is mum.” The post mentioned that this is not the first time something like this has happened in the area. The Kia Seltos is not a hatchback or sedan with low ground clearance. It is an SUV with 190 mm of ground clearance, to be precise. Even that did not help the SUV in this situation. The owner of the Seltos in this post sarcastically applauds the engineer or the person who designed the speed breaker.

Soon after the image of the Kia Seltos stuck on the speed breaker went viral, social media users started criticizing the authorities for constructing poorly designed speed breakers. Most of us reading this article would have had the underbelly of our car rubbed against a speed breaker at least once, and we would definitely understand the pain that the owner of this Kia Seltos SUV went through.

Kia Seltos

Kia Seltos is the first product ever launched by South Korean manufacturer in India. It received an overwhelming response from customers and was officially launched in 2019. The Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, Volkswagen Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq are some of the SUVs that rival it. The Kia Seltos is available with a variety of engine and transmission options. There is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which comes with a manual and an IVT gearbox. It also gets an iMT gearbox option. The naturally aspirated engine generates 115 Ps and 144 Nm of peak torque. The next engine on offer is a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine, which generates 115 Ps and 250 Nm of peak torque. This engine also comes with a manual, iMT, and automatic transmission. The third engine option is a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which generates 140 Ps and 242 Nm of peak torque. This engine option gets a 7-speed DCT and a manual gearbox option. Kia has already launched a facelift for the Seltos internationally, and the same is expected to reach the Indian market later this year.
