Intel wants to use AI everywhere in its business, says CEO Pat Gelsinger

A lot of big tech companies are betting big on AI. In the last few months, the likes of Meta, Google, Microsoft have all signalled their intentions about AI. Now, Intel is also set to join the AI bandwagon as indicated by the company CEO Pat Gelsinger. According to a report by The Verge, Gelsinger said that he sees AI driving workloads across “the full spectrum of applications.”

During the investors’ call, Gelsinger said that Intel is “going to build AI into every product that we build”. He also said that, “whether it’s a client, whether it’s an edge platform for retail and manufacturing and industrial use cases, whether it’s an enterprise data center where they’re not going to stand up a dedicated 10-megawatt farm, but they’re not going to move their private data off-premises, right, and use foundational models that are available in open source, as well as in the big cloud and training environments as well.”

The Intel CEO also said that the company believes in the idea of democratising AI, “opening the software stack, creating and participating with this broad industry ecosystem that’s emerging. It was a great opportunity and one that Intel is well positioned to participate in.”

AI in everything
Gelsinger also said that Intel seessee AI being infused in everything. “There’s going to be AI chips for the edge, AI chips for the communications infrastructure, AI chips for sensing devices, for automotive devices,” he told the investors. He further said that Intel sees immense potential and opportunity. “We see opportunities for us, both as a product provider and as a foundry and technology provider across that spectrum,” he added.

Intel has reported profits after two consecutive quarters of losses. “Our Q2 results exceeded the high end of our guidance as we continue to execute on our strategic priorities, including building momentum with our foundry business and delivering on our product and process roadmaps,” said Gelsinger
