Maria Becerra Performs ‘TKSONG’ at Latin Grammys 2023
On Thursday night, Maria Becerra took the stage to both perform a stunning rendition of “Amigos,” along with special version of her song “Ojalá” on the Latin Grammys awards stage.
Alborán first took the stage alone, before Becerra joined him in a light pink dress as the two performed their Song of the Year nod on a lit-up stage. The musicians were backed by a string ensemble.
The two artists ended their rendition within a bright circle reminiscent of Alborán’s La Cuarta Hoja album cover.
The performance then transitioned to an orchestral version of her solo song “Ojalá,” while surrounded by numerous television screens as she added high notes to the track. At the end of the performance, Karol G could be seen standing and clapping for the Argentinian star.
“It’s another version,” Becerra teased before the show on the red carpet when speaking to Rolling Stone. “The original song is reggaetón but this is a symphonic version.”
It’s a massive year for Becerra at the Latin Grammys. The singer is up for several awards this year, including Song of the Year for “Amigos” with Pablo Alborán. She’s also credited as a songwriter on Alborán’s record La Cuarta Hoja which is up for Album of the Year.
Her song “Ojalá” was up for Best Urban Fusion/Performance, while “Automático” is nominated for both Best Reggaetón Performance and Best Urban Song.
As for Alborán, his song “Carretera y Manta” is up for Record of the Year, his track “Contigo” with Sebastián Yatra is nominated for Best Pop Song, while La Cuarta Hoja also got a nod for Best Pop Vocal Album. The Spanish singer has been nominated 24 times in the past but has yet to win an award. He also performed “No Vaya a Ser” at the 2018 awards show.
Becerra was nominated for Best New Artist in 2021, and earned a nod in the Best Urban Music Album category for her LP Animal in 2022. At last year’s ceremony, she joined Luis Figueroa onstage to present the award for Best New Artist to Silvana Estrada and Angela Alvarez.
It’s been a year of experimental collabs for La Nena de Argentina. She recently released “Piscina” with Chencho Corleone, hopped on Fuerza Régida’s “Pradax,” and dueted with Enrique Iglesias on “Asi Es La Vida.”
Alborán sings “Somos Dos” from Pixar’s Elemental, and also joined Antonio Orozco for “Estoy Hecho de Pedacitos de Ti” and Marc Seguí on “Mariposas.” He also released an extended version of La Cuarta Hoja.
Among the performers at this year’s awards show — hosted for the first time in Seville, Spain — are Juanes, Rosalía, Eslabón Armado and Peso Pluma, Christian Nodal, and Feid.
