0 53

At the Xbox Games Showcase, Xbox Game Studios and Asobo Studios announced an expansion for Microsoft Flight Simulator based on Dune. The trailer shows a realistic House Atreides ornithopter flying over the Arrakis deserts. The Dune Expansion for Microsoft Flight Simulator will be released on November 3, 2023, the same day as the premiere of Dune: Part Two.

The creators of Flight Simulator have collaborated with Legendary and Warner Bros. Entertainment to provide an authentic Dune experience, incorporating the iconic design of the ornithopters from Villeneuve’s movie into their longstanding flight simulator series. Players can pilot these advanced aircraft and fly over the magnificent landscapes portrayed in the film.

“We worked closely with the team at Legendary, Warner Bros., and a key member of the Dune design team to create an incredibly detailed Atreides Ornithopter. Every system and control of the cockpit has been authentically recreated and the unique aspects of the flight model have been captured. Master the complex controls of one of the most dynamic aircrafts ever conceived, as you pilot your ornithopter through awe-inspiring locations across the mysterious desert planet of Arrakis,” said the developers of Flight Simulator.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 announced

Microsoft also announced the sequel to Flight Simulator, the Flight Simulator 2024.

The sequel will offer a wide range of exciting activities, including search and rescue, helicopter cargo transport, air ambulance, agricultural aviation, mountain rescue, skydiving, aerial construction, industrial cargo transport, remote cargo operations, VIP charter services, air racing, glider piloting, scientific research, experimental flight, low altitude training, executive transport services, airship tours, and hot air balloon trips. The company promises that this will be the most sophisticated and immersive flight simulator ever created.

The aircraft and airports currently available in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) will continue to be supported in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

The Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is scheduled to release in 2024. It will be available on Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, Xbox Cloud Gaming, Windows 10/11, and Steam.
