Motorola’s new Edge+ should be your next smartphone
Motorola has just taken the wraps off of the new Edge+ for 2023, and it’s a really incredible smartphone. Not only is the Motorola Edge+ a great looking smartphone, but it also has the specs and features to back it up.
Starting off with the display, this is a quad-curved display. It’s a 6.7-inch FHD+ 165Hz pOLED display, with an aspect ratio of 20:9. It’s a beautiful display, with support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision.
Powering the Edge+ is the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, along with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. Making this close to a gaming phone, especially with that 165Hz display. This is all powered by a 5100mAh capacity battery
Motorola has stepped up its camera game
For years, really the entire time Motorola has been making smartphones, it has lacked in the camera department. But that should end with the Motorola Edge+. This phone sports dual 50-megapixel sensors. Including a 50-megapixel main sensor with a f/1.8 aperture. With a 50-megapixel ultrawide and macro sensor, that has a 114-degree field-of-view and a f/2.2 aperture. Finally, rounding out the back there’s a 12-megapixel camera, that is a telephoto and it’s capable of 2x optical zoom.
On the front, Motorola has equipped this phone with a 60-megapixel camera for taking those important selfies. That has a f/2.2 aperture. And all of these pictures use QuadPixel technology. Which basically means that four megapixels are grouped together. Giving you a lower resolution image, with more detail. It’s lower-resolution, but not “low resolution”. It’ll be around 12.5MP in size.
This phone does bring in a few camera features here too. Including Night Vision, Horizon Lock Stabilization, Auto Focus Tracking and Portrait. These aren’t necessarily new features, but they are improved on the new Edge+.
When can I buy the Edge+?
The Motorola Edge+ will be available from Boost Mobile and Boost Infinite starting on May 9. With Spectrum Mobile and Consumer Cellular following a bit later. It’ll be available unlocked starting on May 19 from Amazon, Best Buy and Motorola.com starting on May 25. Pre-orders for the unlocked model will start on May 19.
What about pricing? Well, Motorola is pricing this one pretty aggressively, starting at just $799.
