Nissan teams up with Akshaya Patra, serving 50 lakh meals to Delhi school kids in 2023. Boosting health, education, and a brighter future for all.

Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. (NMIPL) and The Akshaya Patra Foundation (TAPF), a major Indian non-profit, collaborated in January 2023 to boost the nutrition of school kids in New Delhi.

This joint effort, aimed at creating a healthier and educated workforce, is making a positive impact on the lives of thousands of children.

Key Project Highlights

  • 50 Lakh Nutritious Meals: Thanks to NMIPL’s support, TAPF provided 50 lakh nutritious meals to students in 2023.
  • Benefiting 49,000+ Students: From January to December 2023, over 49,000 students from low-income communities have benefited from this program.
  • School Outreach: Meals reached over 300 schools, directly contributing to the health and well-being of each child.
  • Educational Success: Well-nourished kids are not only thriving academically but also experiencing improved performance, opening doors to more opportunities in their future.

Managing Director of Nissan Motor India, Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, shared, “Our collaboration with Akshaya Patra reflects our commitment to make a lasting difference in society. By addressing nutrition and education, we’re investing in the future of children. Through this partnership, we’re supporting students with the promise of a better tomorrow, driving positive change and empowering the young generation.”

Nissan’s sponsored School Meal Program, effectively run through four Akshaya Patra kitchens in New Delhi, aligns with the government’s Mid-Day Meal initiative. It addresses critical issues like food security, nutrition enhancement, increased school attendance, and the reduction of dropout rates.

The program’s impact on reducing micronutrient deficiencies and strengthening children’s immunity against infections has been substantial. Regular Mid-Day Meals have improved overall well-being, decreasing anemia prevalence and promoting healthy growth. Well-nourished children are not just excelling academically; they’re also paving the way for a brighter and healthier future.

In their commitment to building a brighter and healthier future, Nissan Motor India and Akshaya Patra Foundation are ensuring sustained nourishment and empowerment for children. Together, they are creating a future that is not only brighter but also healthier for the nation.
