Nothing Phone 2

Nothing is set to launch its second smartphone, Phone (2) on July 11. This smartphone which will succeed last year’s Nothing Phone (1) will be available in India via the e-commerce platform Flipkart. The Carl Pei-led company has confirmed a few specs of the upcoming smartphone. However, some of the key details about the smartphone (like its pricing) remain unofficial. A French publication named Dealabs has reportedly leaked the European pricing of the Nothing Phone (2). According to the report, the upcoming phone will carry a much higher price tag than its predecessor.

Nothing Phone (2): Expected pricing
The report claims that Nothing Phone (2) may start at €729 (nearly Rs 65,600) in Europe. To compare, Phone (1) was sold for €469 (roughly around Rs 42,200) in this market. This suggests that the upcoming smartphone may get more than a 50% price hike over its predecessor. The report claims that this pricing might apply only to France. Nothing Phone (2)’s price in other markets like the UK, US, rest of Europe and India remains undercover.

As per the report, the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant of the Nothing Phone (2) might be priced at €729. Meanwhile, the higher-end model with 512GB of storage and 12GB of RAM may carry a price tag of €849 (roughly around Rs 76,400).

Nothing Phone (2) is confirmed to come powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. To compare, the Phone (1) features the Snapdragon 778 SoC. The upgraded chipset may be one of the reasons for the hefty price hike, the report adds. The upcoming smartphone will also pack a bigger 4700mAh battery and will be 0.15 inches bigger than the Phone (1).

The company’s CEO Carl Pei also recently unveiled a new, transparent USB Type-C cable. Rumours also suggest that the London-based company is also planning to expand its wearable lineup with its first-ever smartwatch.
