Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Vanessa Kirby Cast for ‘Fantastic Four’
Marvel‘s Fantastic Four has been assembled. In a sweet treat to fans, the entertainment studio announced the official casting for the long-awaited film set for release on July 25, 2025. “Happy Valentine’s Day from Marvel’s First Family,” the social media post teased. “Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn are The Fantastic Four.”
Pascal was reported to have been close to closing the deal to play Mr. Fantastic in November 2023, but nearly every detail about the film was up in the air and being kept under wraps at the time. With him stepping in as Richard Reed, Kirby will double as Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman; Quinn as Johnny Storm, the Human Torch; and Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, the Thing.
Fantastic Four is reportedly scheduled to begin filming this summer with Matt Shakman at the helm as director. It marks Shakman’s second feature film — and his first in a decade — though he also directed all nine episodes of Marvel’s acclaimed miniseries WandaVision.
With Fantastic Four now arriving in July 2025, the release date for Thunderbolts has been moved up to May 2025. Both films will be sandwiched between Marvel’s other two theatrical releases with Captain America: Brave New World arriving in February 2025 and Blade in November 2025.
The timing is cosmic as Fantastic Four will hit theaters one full decade after the release of the 2015 Fantastic Four reboot that starred Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, and Jamie Bell. The critical consensus around the film was, simply put, that it was “worse than worthless.”
In a review of the film, Rolling Stone wrote: “It not only scrapes the bottom of the Marvel-movie barrel; it knocks out the floor and sucks audiences into a black hole of soul-crushing, coma-inducing dullness. And, guess what, it’s an origin story.” There are much higher hopes in place for Shakman’s Fantastic Four.
