Pokemon Go’s creators are working on a Monster Hunter Game

0 28

Niantic Labs, better known as “The Pokemon Go Company”, has developed other titles that bring AR to more people. Soon after launching NBA All-World, the company announced a partnership with Capcom to develop a game based on one of its most popular IPs. The company is working on releasing a game called Monster Hunter Now.

We’re familiar with Niantic for its AR-based games that have you leaving your home and exploring your town. One of its early successes was named Ingress, but Pokemon Go really put the company on the map. It still makes AR-based games, so you can guess that this Monster Hunter game will follow suit.

Monster Hunter Now will launch in September

Right now, we’re still in the dark on some of the finer details about this game. However, the company did launch a trailer showing some of the gameplay. It looks like a pretty straightforward Monster Hunter game designed for portrait mode on your smartphone.

You’ll go out into your town or city and discover monsters in real-time. When you discover them, you’ll use your character’s attacks to bring them down. This won’t only be a solo experience, as you’ll be able to team up with other players to battle the monsters. So, there’s a social aspect to this game.

As for the actual gameplay, we see different weapons being used by the characters from swords to ranged weapons, so we bet there’s going to be some variety to the gameplay.

The trailer shows us gameplay where the characters and monsters are in an animated environment, but it also shows us (though this isn’t actual gameplay) a monster in the real world using the phone’s camera. So, we guess that it will follow in Pokemon Go’s footsteps and allow you to choose between AR and regular modes.

Monster Hunter Go will launch sometime in September this year for both Android and iOS. If you want to get an early look at this game, then you can sign up to be chosen for the early beta program. Signing up won’t guarantee that you’ll get in, but there’s no harm in trying.
