Rockstar Games has revealed some new details about the highly anticipated GTA 6 title. After several leaks and rumours, the game developer has announced the release date for the first-ever trailer of the upcoming instalment of the popular Grand Theft Auto franchise. The gaming studio took to social media platform X to announce that the Grand Theft Auto 6 title will be unveiled in a trailer on December 5. However, Rockstar didn’t confirm the official release window of the title. Still, the excitement for the upcoming game is evident as the X post has already garnered 150 million views.
Rockstar launched the last instalment to the GTA franchise, GTA 5, almost a decade ago. Later, by selling more than 185 million copies, the title became the second best-selling video game ever after Minecraft.

Rumours claim that Rockstar has been developing GTA 6 for several years now. However, the company officially confirmed the production of the game in February 2022.

Earlier, the gaming giant’s president Sam Houser announced that Rockstar was planning to release the trailer in December to coincide with the company’s 25th anniversary.

Popularity of the GTA franchise
The first game in the GTA series was launched in 1997. Meanwhile, there have been several spin-offs and releases of these instalments on different platforms. GTA IV was launched in 2008 and fans had to wait for five more years before GTA V was released.

This time, the company is about to release the next instalment after more than a decade. The wait might be in some way related to the multiplayer version of the game, GTA Online. This version apparently generates huge amounts of revenue for the company each year.

The franchise is so popular that GTA V has been re-released several times and has been made available on three separate generations of home consoles.

Recently, Rockstar also announced a separate deal with Netflix to bring several of its titles to the streaming giant’s gaming offering. GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas will be made available to Netflix subscribers on mobile devices starting December 14.
