Samsung Internet for Windows possibly pulled from Microsoft Store

0 32

Samsung Internet is one of the best browsers for Android devices, and users have long wondered if they would ever be able to use their favorite phone browser on a computer. In November 2023, the wait for those users finally ended as Samsung launched a Windows version of Samsung Internet on the Microsoft Store.

However, it seems that might have been an accidental release or there were some issues with the original version of the app, as Samsung appears to have pulled Samsung Internet off the Microsoft Store. When the app made its debut on Windows, it was accessible via a direct link to the store but didn’t show up in search results. Now, it’s not accessible through either of the two methods.

We don’t know the exact reason for it, but our money is on it having been an accidental release as Samsung never officially made any announcement about Samsung Internet arriving on desktop PCs and its Microsoft Store listing was discovered by some users on X/Twitter. The app also greeted the user with Korean text, indicating that Samsung hadn’t gotten around to finishing work on things like translation.

Of course, that doesn’t mean the part about the app having issues isn’t accurate. In its initial state, Samsung Internet on Windows was nowhere as smooth as its Android version. It seemed to run a refresh rate lower than 60Hz, and as a result, it felt noticeably laggy. It was also missing a few features that people expect from modern browsers, such as syncing of data like website passwords across different platforms.

Another possible reason for why we can’t access the app is that Samsung Internet was only supposed to be available in Korea, which would explain the untranslated Korean text when the browser started up. The best way to check if it’s available in your country is to hit this link to go to the Microsoft Store and see if the app shows up. You may also try searching for Samsung Internet through the Microsoft Store’s search bar.

We will let you know as we learn more about Samsung Internet on Windows, so stay tuned.
