Samsung is set to expand its flagship Galaxy S-series with new models expected to be released at the beginning of 2023. The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23 series will include three new smartphones — Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra. Now, a new report claims that the South Korea-based tech major is likely to delay the launch of the Galaxy S23 lineup. According to a report by Notebookcheck.net, the company is unable to “pin down” the release date of the Galaxy S23 series due to concerns related to the pricing of the devices. The report claims that Samsung may make the upcoming smartphone series official by “mid to late February”.

Why Samsung may delay the launch of the Galaxy S23 series
As per the report, Samsung is unable to decide on the pricing of the upcoming devices. Since the smartphone market is overcrowded and highly competitive, pricing the products before a major launch can be tricky for companies. Apple launched its latest iPhone 14 series a few months ago and the entry-level model starts at Rs 79,990. Samsung may have to match this price tag for the standard Galaxy S23 model.

The report claims that the Samsung Galaxy S23 is expected to be priced at $799 (nearly Rs 66,000), while the Galaxy S23+ may come with a price tag of $899 (nearly Rs 74,300). Meanwhile, the Galaxy S23 Ultra may start at $1,199 (nearly Rs 99,000). The report also suggests that the S23 and S23 Ultra are likely to match their predecessor’s respective launch prices. However, the Galaxy S23+ model may be $100 cheaper than this year’s Galaxy S22+ launch price.

On the other hand, the Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has also aggressively priced its latest flagship Xiaomi 13 series for its domestic market. The base variant is priced at CNY 3,999 (Rs 47,300) while the Pro variant comes with a price tag of CNY 6,299 (nearly Rs 74,500). Moreover, Samsung is rumoured to take up cost-cutting measures with the Galaxy S23 series and this may lead to the flagship phones of 2023 being launched at less expensive prices.
