Samsung’s next flagship, Galaxy S24, could launch as an “AI Phone”
Samsung’s next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S24, is just a few weeks away. While some nifty upgrades are expected from the upcoming smartphone, there could be more in the row. If reports are to be believed, the Galaxy S24 could be marketed as an “AI Phone,” thus it could pack in some new AI tricks up its sleeve.
Samsung has reportedly trademark applications for “AI Phone” and “AI Smartphone.” The word is that Samsung will market the upcoming Galaxy S24 as an AI Phone.
The Galaxy S24 series is expected to include three models – Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra. These three phones could come with some new AI features.
This is not the first time we have heard of Samsung incorporating artificial intelligence into its smartphones. The Galaxy smartphones already have Samsung’s in-house voice assistant, Bixby, then there are other AI features. However, the next year’s models could have features powered by generative AI.
Samsung’s “new era of Galaxy AI”
Samsung has previously announced that it will integrate artificial intelligence into its smartphones, and it says that next year will be “a new era of Galaxy AI.”
Earlier this month, Samsung introduced the Galaxy AI, a mobile AI experience that combines on-device and cloud-based AI solutions, starting with an AI-powered translation feature for calls named “AI Live Translate Call.” The Galaxy AI will be featured in the Galaxy S24 smartphones, which are rumoured to launch in 2024. This feature is designed to translate phone calls in real-time, and will be the first of many AI-powered features that Samsung plans to introduce in what they call “a new era of Galaxy AI” next year.
Samsung also introduced a new generative AI model, much similar to OpenAI’s GPT, in terms of capabilities. The new AI model, named after the German mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss, has three tools – Samsung Gauss Language, Samsung Gauss Code, and Samsung Gauss Image. The model is capable of generating text, images, and even code. It is said to run locally on devices and will be integrated into the upcoming Galaxy S24 phones.
