Sony Xperia 1 IV Pre-Orders Are Disappointing: Tipster

0 96

Sony announced its new flagship, the Xperia 1 IV, earlier this month. The device didn’t exactly go on sale straight away, but pre-orders are open. Now, it seems like pre-orders for the Sony Xperia 1 IV are quite disappointing, though, as in pre-order numbers.

Pre-orders for the Sony Xperia 1 IV seem to be disappointing, tipster claims

According to a tipster, Anthony aka @TheGalox_, the Xperia 1 IV pre-orders “are only a third of those for the Xperia 1 III”. It seems like users don’t seem to be as interested in the Xperia 1 IV, as they were in the Xperia 1 III.

We’re not sure where Anthony got these numbers, but there you have it. Take this information with a grain of salt, though, as it’s not official. It would be interesting to see more specific info, though.

Pre-sales for the Xperia 1 III were not all that bad, considering numbers for a number of previous models. Now, the Xperia 1 IV will go on sale in Europe in June, but it won’t arrive to the US until September.

Sony does this basically every year, and it’s possibly a reason why users don’t seem to be overly interested. The company announces its new smartphone, but doesn’t make it available for purchase anytime soon.

The device is really pricey

Well, truth be said, Europe will get it about a month after launch, but the same cannot be said for the US. On top of that, the Xperia 1 IV is quite pricey. The pricing for the device starts at $1,599.

That basically makes the device more expensive than the competition, and Sony doesn’t have such a major pull in the smartphone market. The company has been making really compelling phones for a long time, though.

When it comes to specs and features, the Xperia 1 IV is a true powerhouse. It features a 6.5-inch 4K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It includes 12GB of RAM and 512GB of expandable storage.

A 5,000mAh battery is also included here, as are both wired and wireless charging. Android 12 comes pre-installed on the device, while the Xperia 1 IV is IP65/IP68 rated for water and dust resistance.
