The Sony Xperia 1 VI will seemingly include three 48MP cameras on the back, and the details just surfaced. This info comes from @INSIDERSONY X account and was relayed by Notebookcheck.net.

The Sony Xperia 1 VI is tipped to use three 48MP cameras on the back

All three 48MP cameras that will sit on the back are Exmor T cameras for mobile, a sensor with a two-layer Transistor Pixel. As a reminder, the Xperia 1 V used a single 48MP Exmor T sensor on the back. That was its main unit, while the other two were 12MP cameras. Sony is boosting the other two cameras this time around.

The main 48MP camera sensor measures 1/1.4-inch and it has a 1.12um pixel size. The lens aperture is set at f/1.4. Full-pixel dual-PD autofocus is also in use here, while that camera can deliver 2x optical zoom.

The ultrawide camera on the phone measures 1/2.7 inches, and it has a pixel size of 0.6um. That camera also features Sony’s 2×2 On-Chip Lens (OCL) tech with enhanced sensitivity, capture resolution, dynamic range, and speed.

3x optical zoom will be on offer, along with 6x sensor crop zoom

The third Exmor T camera on the back is a telephoto camera of sorts, and it has the same sensor size as the ultrawide camera. It supports 3x optical zoom and 6x sensor crop zoom.

Furthermore, the source claims that the Sony Xperia 1 VI will launch on February 26. A poster he shares claims that the phone is arriving at that date and that it will launch in Barcelona, as part of the Mobile World Congress (MWC).

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor will be used to fuel this smartphone, almost certainly. High-end specs all around are expected, and this could be the last ‘Xperia’ smartphone we end up seeing, at least a flagship one. Sony is tipped to ditch the ‘Xperia’ branding altogether starting next year.

Do note the information regarding the cameras and the launch date with a pinch of salt, though. We’ll wait for at least one usual suspect (well-known tipster) to reconfirm this information because we take it for granted.
