Leaked Huawei Mate 60 render shows off the large camera island circle

A couple of days ago the metal mid-frame of the Huawei Mate 60 leaked, showing that the phone will have a circular camera island. Now Digital Chat Station has shared a render of the phone that offers a better look at said island – it reminds us of the Mate 40 series, except the circle is bigger. Three cameras are visible, though the only details we have so far is that Huawei is bringing new sensors and a periscope lens that has been optimized for low-light shooting. Also, the XMAGE label indicates that the image…

Brie Larson’s Most-Hated Movie Ever Worms Into Streaming’s Inner Circle

Thanks to a sustained review-bombing campaign – as well as its appointed status as the lowest-rated of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s 32 features to date in terms of Rotten Tomatoes audience approval rating – you’d think Captain Marvel was the most-hated entry in Brie Larson‘s filmography. Evidently, though, those trolls and haters aren’t aware of 2009’s Tanner Hall. Thanks to an average of only 26 percent on the aggregation site, co-directors Tatiana von Fürstenberg and Francesca Gregorini are responsible for the…

The One Live-Action Reboot That Should Be Happening Is Killed Stone-Dead as ‘Secret Invasion’ Finally Brings the MCU Full Circle

Amid rumors of Bob Iger planning to sell Disney, the Mouse needs developments to redeem its reputation. But it has only managed to disappoint further with the confirmation that contrary to a very believable rumor, a live-action reboot that fans actually wanted and have been demanding for decades is not on their list of upcoming priorities.  The 2023 sensation that did manage to evade Disney’s penchant for shutting down projects is already on its way to a $200 million domestic box office haul — digging out loopholes to…

Squaring the Circle (The Story of Hipgnosis) review – album cover as concept art | Film

Photographer and film-maker Anton Corbijn is the very best person to direct this very enjoyable documentary about design outfit Hipgnosis and its dynamic co-founders Aubrey “Po” Powell and Storm Thorgerson, the creative powerhouse who virtually invented the concept of the album cover as a vital artform; they worked for Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Paul McCartney and Wings, 10cc and others, when the vinyl rock industry was in its 70s pomp. They devised extraordinary images which were enigmatic, monolithic, audacious, funny,…

GM unveils Hummer EV-based military vehicle – going full circle

General Motors’ GM Defense division has unveiled a new military electric vehicle based on the GMC Hummer EV. The vehicle has now gone full circle from military Humvee to Hummer to Hummer EV to military Humvee electric. When you think about making vehicles electric, the Hummer is not the first one that comes to most people’s minds. Yet, the Hummer EV was the first next-generation electric vehicle using GM’s new Ultium electric platform. It’s a very low-volume EV program that wasn’t believed…

Star Trek Strange New Worlds Recap: “The Broken Circle”

Although time had passed on Star Trek: Discovery before its namesake ship jetted out of the 23rd century and into the far flung futures of the 31st, the series largely had other things to dwell on than the state of paradise in the wake of a devastating war with the Klingons. As Strange New Worlds returns, Star Trek hasdecided now is the time for that dwelling—and what it finds is fascinatingly imperfect.Strange New World's Melissa Navia Talks Flying the Enterprise | io9 Interview“The Broken Circle” sees the Enterprise

‘Squaring the Circle’ review: The zenith of rock album art

In the vinyl heyday, record-buying was a thrilling process. You rushed home, got the plastic off, let that waxy disc slide carefully out so it met your thumb at the edge and middle finger at the spindle hole. (Don’t smudge it!) But once the warm analog sounds of your favorite band (or new discovery) wafted from your speakers, that cardboard sleeve wasn’t tossed aside. You stared at that cover and drank in the album art, especially when it didn’t show the artist. What did the image mean?Maybe nothing, maybe everything,…

‘The Mandalorian’ Submitting Ahmed Best For Emmy Consideration Brings his ‘Star Wars’ Journey Full Circle

Photo via Disney Plus Back when the Star Wars prequel trilogy released in theaters, it’s safe to say that most fans would have named Jar Jar Binks as their least-favorite character from the franchise. And the actor behind the CG creation, Ahmed Best, felt the full weight of that hatred. Disney is offering Best quite the do-over with a small role in The Mandalorian — and has even put the actor up for an Emmy nomination for his work. On its Debut Disney website, the company has listed its offerings for Emmy…
