Not that we’re counting,” said Yvonne Muldoon, director of sales for Aer Lingus. Flights from Denver…

LAZ Parking poised to get $371M contract for Denver airport shuttles

Denver International Airport is preparing to bring in a new firm to operate its shuttle buses. Airport leadership has asked the Denver City Council to award a $371.1 million contract to Connecticut-based LAZ Parking. The contract would run for seven years, with three one-year extension options. A council committee advanced the contract last week. The full council will vote on it in the coming weeks. The shuttles run between the airport’s parking lots and the terminal, serving both employees and those flying in and out.…

Denver industrial real estate market looks strong for 2024

Buoyed by major projects in late 2023, metro Denver’s industrial real estate market is starting the new year strong and no longer has one of the highest vacancy rates in the country. The fourth quarter of 2023 was the Denver area’s second-largest in terms of new buildings delivered in the industrial sector at 3.2 million square feet, the Denver office of JLL, a global real estate firm, reported. The record was 3.6 million square feet in 2022. The fourth quarter was also great for the leasing of space that had been sitting…

Denver Airport flight cancellations continue to mount Monday

Flight delays and cancellations continue to mount at Denver International Airport due to difficult weather conditions and despite “normal’ operations at the airport itself. “While the airport is experiencing cold temperatures, we ask that passengers check with their airlines before heading to the airport, arrive at least two hours before their boarding time and expect some delays if deicing procedures are in place,” said Ashley Forest, an airport spokesperson. FlightAware, a flight tracking website, reports 99 delayed…

United submits first plans for 113 acres purchased near Denver airport

United Airlines wants to have the first facility on a 113-acre site it purchased near Denver International Airport up and running by fall 2027, according to plans submitted to the city. The company and ZGF Architects said in a “large development review” document submitted to Denver in late December that “an immediate need exists to establish a new simulator building, supporting approximately 12 full flight simulators” on the site northwest of Tower Road and 64th Avenue. It’s that building that the company hopes to have…

DIA cargo workers on strike, protesting unsafe working conditions

Nearly 100 Swissport cargo workers at the Denver International Airport are on strike Monday, protesting unsafe work conditions they say the company has been ignoring for more than a year. The strike that began last night is set to last through the day Monday, with a rally of the striking workers starting outside DIA’s Main Terminal at 10:30 a.m. “It’s a big ask to get people to risk their job in this way, even though it’s legally protected,” said Andrew Guttman, who works as a cargo agent for Swissport. People are nervous…

“Extortion demand” stopped $60M sale of offsite DIA parking, lawsuit says

The halted sale of a $60 million parking lot near Denver International Airport has led two of the lot’s co-owners to accuse a third co-owner of extortion. USAirport Parking, west of the airport at 18000 E. 81st Ave. in Commerce City, first opened in 1998. Its shuttle lot offers covered and uncovered parking, along with oil changes. In January, Green Courte Partners, a Chicago company that owns The Parking Spot chain, offered to buy USAirport Parking for $57 million, according to a Nov. 20 lawsuit. William Barber, a…

It is one of the first airlines to allow pilots to pump during flights, according to a Monday news release from the American Civil…
