The developer posted to X, formerly Twitter, that the delay has been caused due to the "competitive integrity of the series being compromised." Footage of the hacks, available available on Twitch, gave players the ability to see their opponent's location while notable player ImperialHal was handed an aimbot which artificially improves their aim while…

EA just brought PC gaming classics like Populous to Steam

Electronic Arts owns the rights to a rich back catalog of PC games from series like Populous, Command & Conquer, and Dungeon Keeper, but many of them weren’t readily available on Steam. That changed today as EA brought many of its classic PC games and expansions to Valve’s PC gaming platform today. Some of the most notable additions come from the long-ago shut down Bullfrog Productions’ lineup of games, like Dungeon Keeper Gold and Populous. Personally, I’m looking forward to jumping into The Saboteur, an…

EA / EA EA announced that it will lay off 5% of its workforce by the end of March as part of an initiative that will also see it move away from making a lot of externally licensed games in the future. “We are also sunsetting games and moving away from development of future licensed IP that we do not believe will be successful in our changing industry. This greater focus allows us to drive creativity, accelerate innovation, and double down on our biggest opportunities — including our owned IP, sports, and massive…

Video game company Electronic Arts will lay off 5 precent of its workforce according to a report it filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Wednesday. More than 650 EA employees will lose their jobs as a result of the move, part of a broader restricting that will see the company cutting back on office space and ending work on some video games.EA’s cuts are the latest in a long line of layoffs that have rocked the video game industry since last year. Madden 24 snapped its Super Bowl prediction losing streak

EA After years of wildly incorrect predictions, Madden 24 has snapped its Super Bowl losing streak. This year’s official simulation of Super Bowl LVIII was nearly right on the money, correctly predicting a narrow win for the Kansas City Chiefs. As has become tradition, EA simulated this year’s Super Bowl matchup in its flagship football series days before the big game. Last week, it used Madden 24 to pit the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers head to head. The final result? A Chiefs win with a 30 to 28 score.…

Apex Legends is reinventing itself for its 5th anniversary

EA It’s rare for a game to get active support for half a decade. For any game to live that long, reinvention is a necessity. Apex Legends has always understood that. The developers at Respawn are again shaking the shooter up for its fifth anniversary, which will kick off its twentieth season, Apex Legends: Breakout, next month. I got an early hands-off look at the impending updates to Apex Legends, and they all seem like smart ways to reinvigorate the live service titan and make it feel new again in 2024. Don’t…

Tales of Kenzera: Zau could be the new Metroidvania gold standard

EA We’re only one month into the new year, but I’m calling it now: 2024 is going to be the year of the Metroidvania. The 2D action-adventure genre, inspired by the Metroid and Castlevania formula, is already having a banner year thanks to Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. That’s only the beginning. With games like Ultros, Animal Well, and (hopefully) Hollow Knight: Silksong around the corner, there’s a good chance that 2024’s “game of the year” will be something from that popular genre. But it’s one thing to make a…
