Dragon Age: Dreadwolf teaser reintroduces the world of Thedas

It’s Dragon Age Day, and BioWare celebrated by releasing a new teaser trailer for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. Titled “Thedas Calls”, this trailer gives us our first in-engine look at some places players will visit in the game. We also learned when we can expect to learn more about this title. The main throughline of the teaser is a dynamic map of Thedas, the world and continent on which the Dragon Age series is set. It jumps to different places in Thedas, like the city of Antiva and the beaches of Rivain, as different…

The Sims 4: For Rent expansion pits landlords against tenants

The Sims 4: City Living, one of the game’s many expansion packs, first introduced livable apartments in 2016. For longtime Sims players, this was a welcome addition to the most recent iteration of the long-running series. But since then, players have asked for far more freedom in both apartment gameplay (i.e., playing a Sims family that lives in an apartment) and building. The Sims 4: For Rent expansion looks to step up and provide players with some long-requested features that haven’t been available before. In a…

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the game to buy this Black Friday

EA / EA I review a whole lot of new video games each year. So when one sticks with me long after I’ve beaten it, that’s an indication of a truly great game — doubly so if it’s a AAA release. That doesn’t always happen with the games to which I gave the highest and lowest scores; it can happen with any game. A good example of this is 2023’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. I gave the game a four-star review in April, and it’s been one of the most memorable games for me in 2023, a year that had tons of fantastic games. This…

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Is Headed to Old-Gen PS4 and Xbox One Consoles

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is headed to old-gen platforms. During the Q1 2024 earnings call, EA confirmed that developer Respawn Entertainment is in the early stages of developing dedicated versions for the PS4 and Xbox One. The Cal Kestis-led (Cameron Monaghan) galaxy-spawning adventure originally launched in April, but entirely skipped previous generations — akin to other major publishers, who've been leaning toward the newer consoles for ease in optimisation and being able to render the visuals to the highest quality…

Starfield, Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty, and More: New Games on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X in September

September promises to be a blockbuster month for gaming, with a stellar lineup of heavy hitters set to release this month. Kicking off the show is Starfield, Bethesda's epic sci-fi space fantasy RPG, which has been in development for eight years, apparently. The studio's first original IP in 25 years, Starfield, as director Todd Howard puts it, is essentially Skyrim in space. Hundreds of hours of spacefaring adventure await, with a side helping of nostalgic Bethesda style. The game is out now on PC and Xbox Series S/X.…

SAG-AFTRA Video Game Performers Vote to Authorise Strike Against Publishers and Studios

SAG-AFTRA members have voted to authorise a new strike against the video game industry, with an overwhelming 98.32 percent in favour. The union claims that 34,687 members cast ballots, representing 24.49 percent of eligible voters. Bear in mind that this authorisation does not guarantee the strike will happen, but that the union members are serious about stopping work if the unions fail to reach a fair agreement with the companies. The voting period began on September 5 and ended on Monday, September 25, ahead of new…

Star Wars Jedi 3 Is in Development at Respawn Entertainment, Actor Cameron Monaghan Confirms

Actor Cameron Monaghan casually confirmed that a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is in development. During the Ocala Comic Con event, the voice and motion capture artist behind the protagonist Cal Kestis said, “We're working on the third. We're in the process of doing it right now.” The news comes as a surprise, considering the series director Stig Asmussen, who rebuilt and instilled faith in single-player Star Wars games, recently left EA/ Respawn Entertainment. However, he always expressed interest in furthering and…

Immortals of Aveum Review: Warlock Warfare

About two weeks before the release of Immortals of Aveum, EA's new first-person spell-shooter action title, Baldur's Gate III released to rapturous acclaim. Larian Studios' Dungeons & Dragons-based RPG - with its deeply rewarding quests, robust gameplay systems, and its evocative characters and storylines - became a global phenomenon, racking up over 800,000 concurrent players on steam. A strong contender for Game of the Year, Baldur's Gate III offers meaningful choices, compelling narratives, and hundreds of hours of…

EA Sports FC 24 Review: FIFA’s Promised Rebirth Remains a Rehash

At this point, FIFA, EA's long-running and ridiculously successful sports video game franchise, is perhaps just as big as football itself. In fact, FIFA games are inseparable from the sport; spoken of together, complementing each other, and influencing and informing each other as both the video game and the sport continue to change and churn. EA Sports FIFA is also deeply tied with football culture. People who watch football, play FIFA. Heck, professional footballers play FIFA. Elite players who make it to the cover of a…
