The Vision Pro isn’t destroying your eyes, but maybe get eye drops

We’ve all heard that screens aren’t good for your eyes. So it might not be too surprising to hear that many Vision Pro users have complained about eye strain. (After all, the headset does use two 4K screens, one in front of each eyeball.) However, these are common complaints from overall VR usage and experts say it isn’t something to freak out over.“Despite what many people believe, sitting too close to the TV does not damage your eyes. Screens ruining your eyes is another myth,” says Dr. Arvind Saini, clinical…

Honor Eye Tracking Impressive, But Don’t Expect Vision Pro Rival

Eye tracking is big news in 2024. It’s fundamental to the way Apple’s Vision Pro works, enabling a range of different experiences using the headset.  Chinese tech company Honor has jumped on the trend, adding eye tracking to the Magic 6 Pro, its new flagship smartphone. It relies on a 3D Time of Flight (ToF) sensor next to the usual selfie camera, with both arranged in an iPhone-esque layout that mimics the Dynamic Island.  Eye tracking isn’t available on the Magic 6 Pro at launch, but it’s coming very soon.…

Engineer uses an Honor Magic6 Pro’s eye tracking feature to remotely control a car

The Honor Magic6 Pro has AI-based eye-tracking powered by Eyeware’s GazeSense software running on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. You could, for example, use it to select a destination on the map and zoom in, just by gazing at your phone. And now it can even start your car! Okay, that’s just a proof of concept created by James Brighton, a UK-based automotive engineering expert. The idea is simple – hands-free control of certain features of the car by looking at the screen of an Honor Magic6 Pro. On the Pro in particular, the…

Colorado lawmakers eye regulation to reduce youth social media use

Annie Valentina Castanon knows the endless scroll of social media well — one short video on an app like Instagram or TikTok turns into another, she said, and soon a minute turns into hours. The quick rush from flashy entertainment gives way to anxiety as she worries about losing time that should have been spent on her Advanced Placement classes. And then depression sets in over the sense that she’s setting her future self up for failure. The senior at DSST: Montview High School in Denver has joined a push at the Colorado…

Sorry, Red Eye – This Is The Only Cillian Murphy Movie The Oppenheimer Star Admits to Rewatching

Cillian Murphy might not be a big fan of Red Eye, his 2005 airplane-set thriller with Rachel McAdams—which we totally love, BTW—but there is one movie in his decades-spanning filmography that he is more than happy to rewatch. While promoting his follow-up to Oppenheimer, the Netflix drama Small Things Like These, the Irish actor sat down with Variety, where he discussed the upcoming new entry to the 28 Days Later franchise. Director Danny Boyle, screenwriter Alex Garland and star Murphy will reunite for 28 Years Later,…

Cillian Murphy Called ‘B Movie’ Red Eye One Of His Worst Films, And I Couldn’t Disagree More

Cillian Murphy is currently garnering a heap of acclaim, including a 2024 Academy Award nomination for his role as the eponymous physicist in Christopher Nolan's epic biopic, Oppenheimer. But, though he has plenty of other acclaimed performances on his CV, from Peaky Blinders boss Tommy Shelby to survivor Jim in Danny Boyle's 28 Day Later, there's one he's seemingly less than fond of. Believe it or not, t's his role in Wes Craven's moderately reviewed, 2005 thriller, Red Eye, and I couldn't disagree with him more. The…
