Synopsys says new tools help design cars, data centers faster

Synopsys on Wednesday showed a set of software tools designed to make it easier and faster to design cars, data centers and other big systems that rely on semiconductors.Synopsys is one of the major players in making software for designing the chips themselves, helping companies like Nvidia decide how to arrange hundreds of billions of transistors on small squares of silicon.Elevate Your Tech Prowess with High-Value Skill CoursesOffering CollegeCourseWebsiteMITMIT Technology Leadership and InnovationVisitIndian School of…

chip design tools: Govt equipping over 100 colleges with cutting-edge chip design tools

The government is equipping more than 100 colleges with electronic design automation (EDA) tools from Siemens EDA, Synopsys and Cadence, as part of efforts to prepare talent for the country’s developing semiconductor ecosystem. The country heads of these chip design software companies told ET that training with these tools ensures that students are industry-ready when they graduate.Elevate Your Tech Prowess with High-Value Skill CoursesOffering CollegeCourseWebsiteIIM KozhikodeIIMK Advanced Data Science For…

Synopsys: Synopsys seeks to acquire engineering software company Ansys

Synopsys Inc, a maker of software used in chip design, has submitted an offer to acquire Ansys Inc, an engineering software vendor with a market value of $30 billion, people familiar with the matter said on Friday. The deal negotiations come as Synopsys cofounder Aart de Geus prepares to transition to an executive chairman role and hand over the chief executive reins to chief operating officer Sassine Ghazi on Jan. 1.Elevate Your Tech Prowess with High-Value Skill CoursesOffering CollegeCourseWebsiteIIM KozhikodeIIMK…

Continental and Synopsys join for faster auto software development, testing, ET Auto

“The Software-Defined Vehicle requires working on hardware, software, applications, and validation in parallel, all while maintaining the highest level of quality and safety,” said Gilles Mabire, CTO at Continental Automotive.Continental has announced a collaboration with Synopsys to accelerate the development and validation of software features and applications for the Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV).This new collaboration integrates Synopsys’ industry-leading virtual

synopsys: Synopsys, Microsoft team up for a chip-design assistant

Microsoft has mostly pitched its "Copilot" as a way to help finish up lines of computer code or quickly summarize a messy email inbox. But Synopsys on Wednesday said it has worked with Microsoft to create its own Copilot to help with designing computer chips.Chip design is one of the hardest tasks in the technology industry because billions of transistors - tiny on-off switches - must be precisely arranged on a piece of silicon just a few centimeters wide. Designing a chip typically costs hundreds of millions of dollars…

Nvidia is leveraging GPUs to build 2nm (and smaller) chips

As part of Nvidia’s GPU Technology Conference (GTC), the company announced a new software library that will enable 2nm and smaller transistors. The library is called cuLitho, and Nvidia has already partnered with the world’s largest semiconductor companies to use the tech, including TSMC and Synopsys. The software stack is built for computational lithography, which is the process of etching the components of a processor into a silicon wafer. Lithography has gotten more complex as the demand for smaller manufacturing…

Samsung begins shipping most advanced 3nm chips

Samsung Electronics on Monday marked the first shipment of 3-nanometer semiconductors at a ceremony, a key milestone in the race to build the most advanced and efficient chips to date. The next-generation 3nm chips are built on Gate-All-Around (Gaa) technology, which Samsung said will eventually allow an area reduction of up to 35%, while providing 30% higher performance and 50% lower power consumption, compared with the existing FinFET process.Samsung said its first-generation of the 3nm process node achieves a 16% area…
