The Pride of the Thunderfoot Tribe During a recent visit to Capcom’s European HQ, I was afforded the opportunity to check out the Arcade Mode adventure for Lily, one of the many exciting newcomers headed to incoming scrapper Street Fighter 6. I was able to take a look at the Thunderfoot princess’ narrative, engage in a few battles, and even lock horns with a mighty Truck in the sequel’s returning Bonus Round. Lily is a descendant of Mexico’s Thunderfoot Tribe, the same clan that previously brought us the Super Street…

This origami-inspired mouse folds flat for your travels

When I travel with my MacBook Pro, I like to bring a mouse with me. As great as Apple’s trackpads are, nothing beats the precision and comfort of one of the best mice for Mac. But I’ll admit this setup has some serious problems: Take a full-size mouse and it’s bulky, but take a travel mouse and it’s uncomfortably tiny. There might be a solution, if you believe what you read on a new Kickstarter campaign. Aside from having a rather inelegant name, the Air.0 mouse believes it can offer the best of both worlds for…

A tiny bug manipulates the behavior of its hosts to ensure its unlikely life cycle Credit: Daisy ChungAdvertisement Parasites give new meaning to the cliché “eat or be eaten.” Often their life cycle can be completed only if they are ingested by a host—multiple times for some—making the odds of their survival seemingly minuscule. To improve their chances, certain parasites manipulate their hosts' behavior to make it more likely the eater will get eaten. The parasitic cestode Schistocephalus solidus requires a much…

Imagine travelling in a train that’s three times faster than the famed Bullet Train. A Canadian startup recently unveiled the FluxJet, a hybrid between an aircraft and a train, capable of riding at more than 621 mph sans emissions. That’s a little quicker than the average private jet or about three times faster than a high-speed train. The plane without wings, as the company TransPod calls it, is based on a new field of physics called “veillance flux” and features an innovative “contactless power transmission”. It is also…
