Google Gboard is the default keyboard on Android, however, the company has also made it available on iOS for iPhone and iPad users. In terms of features, both Android and iOS versions are similar. Both offer text prediction, auto correction, gesture typing, voice typing and the customisation options are also more or less similar. Even so, there are some differences between the two versions and one of those things is that the Gboard app on iOS and iPadOS can do calculations for you. The same is not available on Android.

Gboard app on iOS has built-in calculator
Gboard app on iOS comes with a built-in calculator feature that allows users to quickly do basic mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, etc. This allows users to do matching calculations without leaving the app and opening the calculator app right where you are typing something. The same is not available on the Android version of the keyboard app.

How does the Gboard calculator feature on iPhone and iPad works
To be able to use this feature, you need to make sure that they are running the latest version of Gboard app on your Apple devices. After this, open the Gboard keyboard in any app or homescreen (the feature works within all the apps and other locations including search, home screen, etc).

Start typing the number with the mathematical symbol. For example, you want to add 44 and 67. Then, you’ll need to type 44+67 and Gboard will display the result below the search bar (above the keyboard where it shows the word predictions).

You can also tap on the result to enter it into the text field and send or share it with someone or note down within the notes app.

Why the feature is not available on Android
There’s no clear indication why Google has decided to leave this important feature out of the Android version. Nonetheless, if you are an iPhone or iPad user and use a Gboard keyboard, this feature can come in handy.gd
