Travis Kelce Spreads Love After Fans Boo Taylor Swift at Bills Game

The Kansas City Chiefs tight-end decided to treat people with kindness after fans and players at an away game took aim at his family, girlfriend, and teammates

The Buffalo Bills stirred up some game day drama when the Kansas City Chiefs played an away game in their home base at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, NY on Sunday. “Understandably. It’s a football game. The Bills, coming into their house, they want to make it rowdy,” Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce shared on Wednesday’s episode of his podcast, New Heights. “Did it get a little disrespectful? One thousand percent.”

Without getting into extensive detail, Kelce recalled nasty comments being aimed at the team about their family and “pretty inappropriate things” being directed at Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The stadium was also filled with booing fans as Taylor Swift, who has been regularly attending games while dating Kelce for quite a few months now, arrived on Sunday. But instead of engaging, Kelce threw up a heart symbol with his hands.

“Yeah, man, had to spread the love, baby. You always gotta spread that love, baby,” Kelce told his brother, Jason Kelce. Swift is known for flashing heart hands while performing her song “Fearless” live as a sweet gesture to fans. When Kelce flashed the symbol, fans immediately drew the connection to Swift. And while they weren’t necessarily wrong, Kelce’s intention was more aligned with killing his opponents with kindness. “I just wanted to make sure [they] knew it wasn’t mutual,” he added. “I don’t hate you guys like you hate us. It’s all love, baby.”

In the end, the Chiefs won 27-24.

Last year, in an interview with Time, Swift spoke briefly about the reactions her attendance at Chiefs games has caused. “I don’t know how they know what suite I’m in. There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once,” Swift said. “I’m just there to support Travis. I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”
