Watch New Green and Black Trailers

0 8

The “Black” and “Green” clips show both sides of the brewing conflict between Queen Rhaenyra and King Aegon

The Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon, is set to return for second season this summer, and in anticipation, the show has shared (Dennis Reynolds voice) two trailers offering different looks at the brewing conflict in Westeros.

The new season finds House Targaryen in disarray and on the precipice of a civil war: With Queen Rhaenyra and the Black Council on one side, and her half-brother, King Aegon, and the Green Council on the other. As such, the new trailers — aptly titled “Green” and “Black” — tease the two sides of this story, which is definitely about to erupt in a whole lot of fire-breathing violence.

Truly, despite their prickly differences, both Rhaenyra and Aegon can at least agree on one thing: War is coming. “I mean to fight this war, and win it,” Rhaenyra says in the “Black” trailer. “To war then,” Aegon says with sinister glee in the “Green” trailer.

House of the Dragon finds Emma D’Arcy returning as Queen Rhaenyra and Tom Glynn-Carney as King Aegon. Other core cast members include Olivia Cooke, Matt Smith, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Rhys Ifans, Ewan Mitchell, and Sonoya Mizuno.

House of the Dragon debuted in 2022, three years after Game of Thrones ended its wildly successful run. The prequel series is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, and is based on George R. R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” which is part of the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series. Season One earned solid reviews (though not without some quibbles), a Golden Globe for Best Television Drama Series, and an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Drama.

Season Two of House of the Dragon will debut June 16 on HBO and Max.
