Xiaomi Mix Fold 3: Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 confirmed to launch in August: What to expect

The foldable phone market is expected to grow in the coming years with tech companies like Samsung, Oppo, Google, Motorola and others laying emphasis on it. Xiaomi has also confirmed the launch of its next-generation foldable — Mix Fold — in August this year.

Lu Weibing, general manager of Redmi in China, revealed the launch timeline of Mix Fold 3 in a post on Weibo. The foldable phone, as per the company, is one of the most feature-packed foldable devices, primarily due to its camera setup.

Earlier, it was reported that the primary camera of Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 will offer Sony IMX 989 sensor, similar to the main camera sensor of Xiaomi 13 Ultra, which will feature a 1-inch type sensor on the rear side of the foldable. Additionally, the auxiliary cameras of Mix Fold 3 will also be the same as the ones found in Xiaomi 13 Ultra.

Xiaomi is said to integrate a 50MP Sony IMX 858 sensor on an ultrawide angle camera, a telephoto camera, and a periscope telephoto camera. This camera configuration is identical to that of the 13 Ultra, as all of the auxiliary cameras in Xiaomi 13 Ultra also employ Sony IMX 858 sensor.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 launched in China
Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 will succeed the Xiaomi Mix Fold launched in China last year. Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 has an 8.2-inch Samsung Eco screen with 2160×1914 pixels resolution. Once closed, the phone gives access to a 6.56-inch Samsung AMOLED E5 display with a 2520 x 1080 pixels resolution. The foldable phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset and comes with 12GB of RAM. The smartphone runs MIUI Fold 13 based on Android 12 operating system.
