The finals of one of the biggest global tennis tournaments, Wimbledon, was held earlier this month in the UK. The final match of the tournament was played between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic. This epic battle helped Alcaraz to cement his place as world number one. Also, this was Alcaraz’s first Wimbledon title against seven-time champion Djokovic. Now, Google has good news for tennis lovers. The tech giant’s video streaming app, YouTube is currently showing the final for free. The video was uploaded recently on Wimbledon’s official YouTube account and has already amassed more than 150K views. An user has also commented the times in the video where viewers can find the specific sets as well as the championship point. This is the first time Wimbledon has released a full match on YouTube.

YouTube testing new features
The Google-owned platform keeps testing new features to improve user experience. Recently, YouTube started testing a few ‘experimental features’ for paid Premium subscribers. These new features include stopping accidental taps with Lock Screen, a gesture to control video playback speed and larger preview thumbnails. The company will decide if it wants to roll out these features for all users depending on the feedback from the Premium users. These experimental features will be available for Premium users until August.

YouTube is also testing a new feature for its short video format, Shorts. This feature will allow viewers to create Shorts from comments on other people’s videos. The company has named the feature “viewer-created Shorts featuring comments”. This feature will help users to share their thoughts and reactions to videos more creatively.

“While creators are already able to reply to comments (posted on their own content) with a Short, we want to explore offering viewers the opportunity to create content from comments as well,” YouTube said on its support page.

Apart from this, the company has also recently hiked prices for its premium subscribers in the US for the first time. YouTube launched its subscription service in 2018.
