YouTube tests a feature for creators to choose the best thumbnail

0 45

YouTube is testing a new feature called “Test & Compare” that aims to simplify the process of selecting the most effective thumbnail for your YouTube video. This feature allows creators to upload three different thumbnails for a single video and allows YouTube to conduct behind-the-scenes experiments to determine which one performs the best.

The feature is under testing with a select group of creators. Currently, only a few hundred have access to this feature, but YouTube plans to release a beta version to thousands more in the coming months. The full launch will take place next year.

According to YouTube, its users have been requesting a new feature that allows for A/B testing. This feature is particularly important for video thumbnails, as they play a crucial role in attracting viewers. YouTube’s Test & Compare feature, currently in development, will provide a report with the watch time percentage for each thumbnail tested through A/B testing.

YouTube’s new tool can dub videos for you
Alongside this, YouTube also announced a new AI-powered dubbing tool. The new AI-powered dubbing service called Aloud, which is under testing, allows creators to dub their videos in other languages. Aloud uses AI to create a text-based translation that can be edited by creators, then generates a dub.

The tool transcribes the video, providing creators with a transcription that they can review and edit. Then, it proceeds to translate and create the dub.

According to Amjad Hanif, YouTube’s VP of product management, the platform is testing the tool with “hundreds” of creators. The tool is currently available in English and allows users to dub in Spanish and Portuguese. More languages will be added soon.

In the future YouTube will enhance translated audio tracks to sound like the creator’s voice, with improved expression and lip sync, said Hanif. The new features are slated to roll out publicly next year.
