Apple may add larger batteries in iPhone 15 series
Come September 2023 and Apple is expected to unveil the next generation of iPhones, the iPhone 15 series. The upcoming iPhone 15 lineup is rumoured to include the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models.
South Korean publication ITHome reports that the iPhone 15 series is said to get a bigger battery update. This rumour first surfaced on Weibo and was spotted by ITHome. According to the rumour, citing a Foxconn source, here are the battery capacities for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro lineups:
The iPhone 15 could feature a 3877mAh battery (18% increase from iPhone 14) while the iPhone 15 Plus will reportedly be backed by a 4912mAh battery (13.6% increase from iPhone 14 Plus) — also said to be the largest battery to debut in an iPhone till now. Meanwhile, the iPhone 15 Pro may come equipped with a 3650mAh battery (14.1% increase from iPhone 14 Pro) and the top-of-the-line iPhone 15 Pro Max will reportedly be equipped with a 4852mAh battery (10.9% increase from iPhone 14 Pro Max).
Apart from the larger batteries, it was also reported that all the models in the iPhone 15 series, including the vanilla ones, may come with a 48MP primary camera. reports that Sony has asked TSMC to handle the colour filter film for its camera units due to a lack of production capacity.
According to the report, Sony is facing pressure because more iPhones are said to feature the 48MP camera this year, which was first introduced in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The report states that Apple plans to upgrade the camera setup to 48MP for the entire iPhone 15 lineup, not just for the Pro models.
