Apple undecided on display technology, size of upcoming iPhone SE 4: Report

0 35

Apple unveiled iPhone 14 series earlier this year and reports suggest that the Cupertino-based technology giant is working on an affordable iPhone SE 4. The smartphone is rumoured to sport iPhone XR-like design. However, it seems Apple is yet to decide on the display technology and size of this iPhone model.

In the latest development, display analyst Ross Young has tweeted the different display options for the iPhone SE 4.

iPhone SE 4: Expected display size

Citing Young’s tweet, which he shared with his Super Followers, 9to5mac reports that Apple is yet to finalise display options for iPhone SE 4. He claims that the company is considering using a 6.1-inch OLED display which it may source from two different suppliers. Apple is also reported to consider LCD panels ranging from 5.7 inches to 6.1 inches from two separate suppliers.

“We hear Apple has not yet finalized its display choice on the SE4. It is believed to be considering 6.1″ OLEDs from 2 suppliers as well as 5.7″-6.1″ LCDs from 2 suppliers,” Young was quoted as saying.

How the two iPhone display panels differ
The 6.1-inch OLED display panel would be a premium choice as Apple has included the same in its premium offerings since iPhone X. The inclusion of an OLED panel would likely have an effect on the final price of the smartphone.

In case Apple chooses to include an LCD panel, the price of the upcoming iPhone SE 4 will likely be in line with the cost of its predecessors.

Previous renders suggest that iPhone SE 4 will have the same form factor as the iPhone XR that made its debut globally in 2018. This means that the upcoming iPhone SE model will have a display reduced bezels, notch, and Face ID.
