Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer fails to impress ChatGPT-maker Sam Altman and Elon Musk

The film “Oppenheimer,” directed by Christopher Nolan, tells the story of J Robert Oppenheimer, known as the “father of the atomic bomb.” Over the weekend, thousands of moviegoers, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, flocked to theatres to glimpse the film, featuring Cillian Murphy as the renowned physicist.

Despite garnering positive reviews all over, the movie did not impress Altman. He believed that the movie was intended to motivate kids to become physicists, but it failed to achieve this goal.

“I was hoping that the Oppenheimer movie would inspire a generation of kids to be physicists but it really missed the mark on that. Let’s get that movie made!” reads Altman’s tweet.

In the same tweet, Altman expressed his appreciation for David Fincher’s The Social Network, which is based on Mark Zuckerberg’s journey on Facebook, and as per Altman, the movie inspired startup founders. “I think The Social Network managed to do this for startup founders,” he added.

The tweet also reached Twitter CEO Elon Musk, who seems to have agreed with OpenAI CEO, writing “Indeed” in reply.

Altman tweeted that the film Apollo 11, which showcases audio and video footage and behind-the-scenes workings of NASA’s famous mission led by astronaut Neil Armstrong, is the most inspirational movie. “Apollo 11 is perhaps the most inspiring movie I have ever seen. strongly recommend!,” he wrote.

Altman has posted a poll to decide which films out of Barbie and Oppenheimer were released on the same day he should watch. The poll received 42,000 votes, and 82 voted for Oppenheimer, while only 18% voted for Barbie. As a result, Altman announced on Twitter that he would be watching Oppenheimer.

Nolan’s Oppenheimer is based on the biography of physicist J Robert Oppenheimer’s biography, American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer.

In World War II, Lt. Gen. Leslie Groves Jr. assigned physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer to lead the highly classified Manhattan Project. Oppenheimer and his team of scientists dedicated several years to research and design the atomic bomb. On July 16, 1945, their efforts came to fruition with the world’s first nuclear explosion, which forever altered the course of history.
