has added artificial intelligence-based tech to several of its products and services. The tech giant is now planning to integrate Chrome with AI. Google is reportedly working on a new AI settings section for its popular web browser Chrome. The latest setting will be in charge of Chrome’s automated tab organisation tool and a new autofill helper.

In a post on social media platform X, a user named Leopeva64 claimed that the new settings pane is currently under development. This settings menu is available only for select testers and to access it users have to go through some hidden developer flags. The post also notes that the new AI setting section is called Advanced. Moreover, its URL chrome://settings/ai also makes it clear that the settings are related to AI.

The X post also includes a video which shows that the new settings section is still under development and far from completion.

As per the post, the tab organisation feature will be a part of this setting pane that Google is testing. Previously, this feature was spotted under development as a part of the Search tab chevron interface.

Once this feature becomes available, Chrome users are supposed to see an “organize tabs” button after they open a certain number of tabs. The button is expected to show up automatically in the settings section. This will help users by automatically sorting their tabs. Earlier reports didn’t clarify if this feature is AI-powered or not. However, if it is a part of the AI settings, it’s expected to be powered by some machine learning algorithm.

The video shared with the post also shows that there will be a single toggle that reads “Show additional settings.” When turned on, this will also reveal another “Autofill helper” toggle. To use this feature, users currently need to restart the browser after enabling this toggle. The post didn’t reveal what the autofill helper feature does but mentioned that it was originally known as “Compose.”

Apart from Chrome, Google is currently working on integrating AI across different products. The company’s ChatGPT rival Google Bard is now available for end users. Google has also introduced multiple AI photo tools. This includes Magic Eraser and Magic Editor on Google Photos. These tools can help users to erase and fill areas of photos and even change the entire composition.
