Microsoft’s Azure AI Studio will let customers build their own ‘Copilot’
Microsoft Build 2023 conference is currently underway and the first day of the annual event revolved around artificial intelligence (AI). During his keynote, company CEO Satya NAdella talked about the potential of generative AI and announced products, such as Copilot for Windows 11, powered by AI. The company also launched Azure AI Studio which will enable businesses to create a personalised AI chat assistant.
Azure AI Studio will provide tools to businesses and developers to build a new capability within the Azure OpenAI Service to combine OpenAI chatbots with their own data to build a chat assistant or an app.
“We’re excited to share our new Azure AI Studio. With just a few clicks, developers can now ground powerful conversational AI models, such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT and GPT-4, on their own data. With Azure OpenAI Service on your data, coming to public preview, and Azure Cognitive Search, employees, customers, and partners can discover information buried in the volumes of data, text, and images using natural language-based app interfaces,” the company said in a blog post.

The company mentioned that the Azure OpenAI Service is already benefitting more than 4,500 companies, including Coursera, Grammarly, Volvo and IKEA.
Microsoft Fabric
The company also launched Microsoft Fabric, a new analytics platform that centres around the company’s OneLake data lake. It can also pull in data from Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), an object storage service, as well as Google Cloud Platform.
The platform integrates technologies like Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Power BI into a single unified product.

Microsoft also announced Windows Copilot for Windows 11. It is an AI-powered virtual assistant that works like Copilot in the company’s other products, such as Edge and Office apps suite. Users can click on the shortcut on the taskbar to summon a sidebar wherein they can chat with the virtual assistant to quickly undertake tasks like turning on the night light mode, or changing the desktop background.
