EA Studios Cliffhanger Games announces new Black Panther game
EA Studios has announced a new game based on Marvel’s Black Panther. The game is being created by a new triple-A studio called Cliffhanger Games, situated in Seattle. Marvel Games is also collaborating in the development of this title.
The new game is described as a third-person action-adventure game with a focus on a single-player story. According to a press release from Cliffhanger, their goal is to create a large and interactive game world that allows players to step into the role of the Black Panther, the protector of Wakanda.
Kevin Stephens, formerly of Monolith Productions, is leading the Cliffhanger. The team includes experienced professionals who have worked on popular games like Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, God of War, Halo Infinite, and Call of Duty. The team is actively hiring and is still being assembled.
The untitled Black Panther project is still in its early stages of development, and it will be a few years before it is available to the public.
“We’re dedicated to delivering fans a definitive and authentic Black Panther experience, giving them more agency and control over their narrative than they have ever experienced in a story-driven video game,” Stephens said.
“Wakanda is a rich superhero sandbox, and our mission is to develop an epic world for players who love Black Panther and want to explore the world of Wakanda as much as we do.”
Cliffhanger Games’ development team will collaborate with Marvel Games to meticulously create every aspect of Wakanda, including its technology, heroes, and original storyline. The team is committed to ensuring that the world of Black Panther receives the authenticity and attention to detail it deserves.
Currently, there are numerous Marvel games under development, with Black Panther being among them. EA has signed a contract with Marvel to create at least three action-adventure games for console and PC. The first game announced in this collaboration is an Iron Man game, which is being developed by Motive Studios, the creators of Star Wars: Squadrons and the Dead Space remake.
