Nothing Phone (2a) to be powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 7200

Nothing has been cooking a more affordable device to complement the Phone (2) in its roster. This has been referred to by various leaksters as Phone (2a), and it's apparently slated to launch at the end of February during MWC in Barcelona. Today a video of a sketch of the handset has been leaked, showing us its purported camera arrangement, which looks nothing like any previous Nothing device. The Phone (2a) will thus be more easily identifiable as the cheaper one, which is important to some. Meet the Nothing Phone…

MediaTek’s new smartphone chip sounds too good to be true

MediaTek Weeks after introducing a very promising flagship chip for Android phones that rivals Qualcomm’s best, MediaTek is taking the competition a notch lower. The latest from the Taiwanese company is the Dimensity 8300, which goes straight against the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. Overall, this seems like one of the best mid-tier processors MediaTek has offered in a long time, both in terms of inherent capabilities and generation-over-generation upgrades. The first wave of phones powered by the Dimensity 8300 will arrive by…

The brand has unveiled a Dimensity 9200+ system-on-chip with improvements that will be particularly noticeable with games. You'll find higher clock speeds for the main Cortex-X3 core (up from 3.05GHz to 3.35GHz), three Cortex-A715 cores (from 2.85GHz to 3GHz) and four Cortex-A510 efficiency cores (1.8GHz to 2GHz). More importantly, the company says it has "boosted" the…

MediaTek’s Dimensity 8200 brings flagship specs to cheap phones

MediaTek is adding a new sub-flagship mobile processor to its lineup, and this one comes up with some “core” upgrades. Say hello to the Dimensity 8200, which succeeds the Dimensity 8100 system on chip (SoC), and will soon be appearing inside a bunch of smartphones made by Chinese brands. It will go against the likes of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC. The latest offering from MediaTek wades right into the flagship territory by opting for TSMC’s 4nm process. Apple also had its mighty A16 Bionic (powering the iPhone…

MediaTek’s Dimensity 8200 specs leak, minor upgrade over the 8100

The Dimensity 8200 still isn't official, but we already know that it will power up Xiaomi Redmi phones and the upcoming iQOO 7 SE. And now thanks to prolific tipster Digital Chat Station we get the SoC's key specs and they suggest a minor upgrade over the Dimensity 8100. It would employ the same 4x Cortex-A78 and 4x Cortex-A55 cores, but in a different configuration at higher clock speeds. The A78 will be divided into two clusters - 1x Cortex-A78 clocked at 3.1 GHz and 3x Cortex-A78 running at 3.0 GHz. The four…

Lenovo Tab Extreme will be the first tablet to sport MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000 SoC

Lenovo is taking Android tablets more and more seriously by the day, it seems. It already had an interesting offering in the P12 Pro, but that's apparently due for a successor, and this has now leaked courtesy of the Google Play Console. Ladies and gentlemen, meet the upcoming Lenovo Tab Extreme. The name is, perhaps surprisingly, rather adequate here, as this will be the first ever tablet to sport MediaTek's Dimensity 9000 high-end chipset. And that's not the only top shelf feature on offer. The Tab Extreme also…

The multi-core, multi-CPU chipset will enable all kinds of specs and features that you’ve likely heard of before, but they’ll be all tucked inside more TV sets than ever, with more video and audio codecs and broadcast TV standards, all in a single platform. Chips Ahoy! MediaTek’s Flagship Dimensity 9200 | Fast Charge 134

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SB-37pmJQc It’s been the case for several years that most flagship Android smartphones run a Snapdragon chipset, such has been Qualcomm’s dominance. We’ll be chatting about it and all things phones on the Fast Charge podcast today, 10 November 2022. MediaTek has a thing or to two to say about that though. It launched the Dimensity 9200 this week in California, and it’s all but confirmed to appear in a premium Vivo phone by the end of the year. The 4nm chip is powered by the…
